Lugo is situated in Galicia in North-West Spain. The nearest airport is A Coruña/ La Coruña Airport, which is about 90km from Lugo (about an hour by car). Most of the way is on the A6 – a very fast dual carriageway road.

Flights from London are operated by Vueling, the low cost subsidiary of Iberia. Flights go from Heathrow.

There are many car hire operators at the airport, including Europcar, Avis and Hertz. Vueling has links to car hire companies which you can select when you book your flight. We would suggest that you don’t go for too big a car as the streets are very narrow in old Lugo, the hotel we stay at has a petite car park(!) and, really, it’s not necessary.

Alternatively, other airlines fly to Santiago de Compostella which is further away than La Coruña and we have not tried this recently.
