Lugo
Welcome!
We have put together these pages to share with anyone planning to visit Lugo’s Polusa Clinic for treatment – in particular maxillofacial/dental treatment.
We show you a little of this utterly charming city, identify key sites, give a few (non-medical) tips relating to dealing with your treatment and then touch on things you can do whilst you are recovering. So it’s a bit of a head start for your own research and planning.
We are travellers who love to discover new things and who get joy from the smallest detail. We are not interested any longer in deluxe experiences or “haute” anything so, if that is your interest, then maybe you won’t be on these pages for long!
Clearly the information we present is not exhaustive as we have only visited Lugo twice for a total of about 10 days (some of it undergoing treatment), but we hope it will be a good start for fellow travellers. If you have any hot tips or finds we could share with others, just send them to us.
Lugo itself
You can see from the slider above much of the character of Lugo, a city whose centre is encircled by a Roman wall the top of which can be walked around, affording beautiful views of the architecture, history and life of the place. It is a key staging post on the pilgrims’ way to Santiago de Compostela.
Despite somewhat uncontrolled and rapid expansion around the peripheries, Lugo centre has managed to retain a very traditional Spanish feel with life going on according to the daily rhythms of yesteryear – café society, a proper lunch, siesta, bar and tapas hopping in the evening etc… The centre is largely pedestrianised and so is great for a stroll. Lugo’s centre is less than a kilometre in diameter, so you can really get your arms round it.
On other pages we give a little information on hotels, shopping and restaurants in Lugo, a few (non-medical) tips on preparing for your treatment and ideas for trips out of Lugo that are not too far away.
In the map below we show you the wall walk and a few of our finds during our stay. Click on the “picture frame” image at the top right of the map frame for a bigger map and more detail.
