Restaurants of course
The Hotel Torre del Remei is one of the most magic and enchanting places we have ever found and we continue to return for more experiences.
Set in beautiful grounds near Puigcerda, it was the home of a wealthy family in the early 20th century. It has been lovingly restored by its owners Josep Maria Boix and Loles Vidal and they ensure that the welcome you receive there is second to none.
As for the restaurant – to quote a friend “eating here is like having exquisite fireworks going off in your mouth”.
More about this fantastic place under secret knowledge, but until then, here is their link one more time.
Cal Lliuret in Travesseres is magical. Local (and we mean really local) produce, for example potatoes and vegetables from the village, wild mushrooms from the Lles mountain, and really creative cooking in a warm and welcoming village restaurant. Artistic starters and seasonal rices are a speciality and don’t forget to ask for the trumfes braves!
See more at Cal Lliuret’s website.
This is Can Borrell in Meranges. It is snuggled right up the mountain in a very typical village with the most beautiful vistas.
Can Borrell is a restaurant with extremely well prepared local food, faithful to the seasons and local produce. And a night spent there in one of its few rooms is magically peaceful.
It is a great place to stop after you have visited the lake further up and worked up an appetite.
